| MOAA Encourages Phone Card Donations to Help Troop Morale |
|
"We encourage our members to donate phone cards to the troops to help morale by keeping them in touch with their families," MOAA President Vice Adm. Norb Ryan Jr., USN-Ret., said after hearing from the Iraq Multi-National Force senior NCO.
After participating with several other military and veterans service organizations in one of the DoD periodic live telephone calls with key leaders located in Southwest Asia, MOAA learned how important the donated phone cards are for troop morale.
Earlier this month, Command Sgt. Maj. Marvin Hill from the Multi-National Force - Iraq spoke for 30 minutes about the effect of the surge, the tough months ahead, and troop morale. (See "MOAA Talks with Iraq Multi-National Force Senior NCO about the Troops".) When asked about what military organizations can do in addition to lobbying for the troops, Hill said the donated phone cards were very important for troop morale.
The DoD Military Exchanges have been authorized to sell prepaid calling cards to individuals and organizations who wish to purchase these cards for troops serving overseas in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
The Army Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES)The Army Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) sells prepaid phone cards on their Web site. Click on Help Our Troops Call Home from their home page for more information and to order.
